The 18th and 19th century witnessed the changing face of world through industrial revolution and now it is period of technological revolution. The current revolution is driven by digital, data and artificial intelligence. The emergence of Chat GPT in 30 November 2022 reminded us that we are living in a transition period and the future is curved by new technologies. The common people started fearing about mass unemployment if all manual and repeated tasks are taken over by artificial intelligence. Thus, it becomes inevitable to understand the changing world together with its ethos and principles. How far it is possible to change the concept of human resource as fundamental and valuable contributor of the world economy.
We are familiar with apocalyptic movies which portrays artificial intelligence which become conscious and become the greatest threat for human sustenance. Is it just a phobia for our reluctance to embrace the changing world or we planted the seed that result in human annihilation. It is interesting to note that we are not short of phobias at any point of our evolutionary path. In the cave we feared about wrath of nature and dangerous animals. Until we discovered electricity we feared about ghost and evil spirit. The rise of capitalism made us to fear about slaves that live like pigs. It is interesting to note that when capitalistic countries are paying better salaries than socialistic countries then only, we realized that capitalism is not opposite to socialism. Hence all our phobia has it own reason for its existence but today we know that we moved far ahead from it with constant efforts. There fore the phobia instilled by artificial intelligence are also meaningful until we ourselves learn to address such challenges.
Definitely the world will change from our current perception and in future we may migrate from working class to self employed class. From our current understanding the role of traditional concept of job might change in future towards self-employment, gig work and hybrid models. The role of e-commerce industry in today world will foster new brands, the content creators flexiblity to work from remote corners and emergence small business from home might be precursor development to this aspect. A mind to thrive for finding the hidden treasures of human intelligence is more important for survival when all monotonous jobs where taken over by artificial intelligence.
